Boxer Dingko Singh no more: PM pays condolences

India has seen several deaths in the recent past. Some of them died due to the COVID pandemic, while some became victims of other serious problems. Recently, India has lost the legendary boxer, Dingko Singh due to his death on Thursday. So this article will tell you all the details about him and his death.
Who was Dingko Singh




Dingko Singh was a professional boxer. He won a Gold medal in Asian Games in 1998. Everyone knows him for popularising boxing in India. He won various prizes in boxing and was considered one of the best boxers. Owing to his contributions in the boxing field, he also attained the Arjuna Award in 1998. He was also Padma Shree Awardee in 2013. Padam Shree is India’s fourth-highest honour.
He was forty-two years old. He was married to Babai Ngangom, and he had a son and a daughter.
How did Dingko die?




Dingko Singh died due to liver cancer. He had liver cancer in 2017, and since then, his treatment was going on. Dingko had been undergoing radiotherapy at the Institute of Liver and Biliary Sciences (ILBS), Delhi, since April 26. His therapy was delayed due to COVID-19, but due to the efforts of India’s Boxing Federation, he was airlifted to Delhi.
When Doctors examined his body, they were convinced that he should get chemotherapy. But unfortunately, due to jaundice, the Doctors could not proceed with the recommended therapy.
For the complete lockdown, he had to stay in that institute. But unfortunately, on Thursday, he took his last breath in the institute.
Who all paid tribute to Dingko?




Various personalities paid tribute to Mr Dingko Singh like PM Narendra Modi, Union Sports Minister, Kiren Rijiju, another legendary boxer, Mary Kom, Vijender Singh etc.
Union sports Koren Rijiju tweeted on his Twitter handle about the death of Dingko Singh. He acknowledged his expertise by remarking that he was one of the finest sportspeople. Also, Koren paid condolences to his family and near and dear ones. He said that his victory at Asian Games in 1998 was one of the best moments for India.
Mary Kom also wrote about Dingko Singh on her Twitter handle saying that he was a true hero and his legacy will continue.
Further, Olympic Medallist boxer Vijendra Singh also paid tribute to the hero. He said that he would be an inspiration for all the coming generations. He prayed for strength to the family to sustain this loss.
Not only sports-related personalities but various Chief Ministers also tweeted about the loss. N Biren Singh, the CM of Manipur, showed sadness on Dingko Singh’s death on his Twitter handle. He said that Dingko had contributed immensely to Indian and Manipuri Boxing.
What did PM Narendra Modi say about Dingko Singh
Prime minister of the Country Narendra Modi, paid condolences to the family of legendary player Dingko Singh. While appreciating his excellent sports career, PM said that Dingo Singh has contributed to Popularizing boxing in India. He noted that Dingko Singh had inspired the youth with his hard work and swashbuckling ring craft.
The Prime Minister wrote on his Twitter handle about the painful death of Dingko Singh. He tweeted that he was a superstar in sports, and he had won many awards for India in boxing, thereby popularising the game in India. He paid condolences to his family and friends and ended his tweet with Om Shanti.

Dingko Singh’s death is a great loss to India. His role and achievements in Boxing inspire everyone. His death at such a young age due to a horrible disease like liver cancer is very shocking. We pay condolences to his near and dear ones and hope that they recover from this pain soon.

Keeping in view the severe pollution surrounding Delhi-NCR, Supreme Court on Saturday (13th November 2021) told the centre to declare a two-day lockdown to reduce air pollution.
Two-days lockdown in Delhi due to air pollution
Due to severe air pollution in Delhi, the Supreme Court has suggested a two-day lockdown. It also asked the government to take some steps to bring down the severe air pollution of Delhi. Justice N V Raman said it is a serious issue. The court suggested that people must wear masks at home as well. They said currently immediate measures should be taken and later long term measures will be taken. It said that no political games should be played.

Further, the court has asked Punjab and Haryana to stop the stubble burning so that the pollution will go down and the situation won’t improve until 15th November.

The decade is a part of Uttarakhand and there will be an unimaginable growth in connectivity throughout the region over the next few years and the movement of people who live in the hills will be stopped the way it is now, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Friday. Modi addressed a large group of teerth purohits and worshippers at the Kedarnath temple following the unveiling of the 12-foot Adi statue Guru Shankaracharya in the seer’s samadhi, which was rebuilt by the seer.
