The most unique part about this temple is that there is no sculpture to worship here, but it does have a structure of  Yoni or Vagina of Devi Sati, who was the wife of Lord Shiva, covered in a red silk saree.

During the monsoon season every year, the goddess Kamakhya menstruates, and then the temple is closed down for three days straight. . During this time, other major festivals like the Tantric fertility festival also popularly known as Ambubachi Mela is celebrated till the fourth day when the temples open again. Unlike other basic shops of Varanasi or any temple in India which sells flowers or sweets as an offering, outside Kal Bhairav Nath Temple, the stalls sell only alcohol for sale.

Nidhivan Temple, Vrindavan

This temple of Vrindavan named Nidhivan is counted among the top mysterious temples of India that are specifically dedicated to Lord Krishna. It resides in the Nidhi Van, that is none other than a huge dense forest. Due to this, they notably experience the growth of green leaves during the whole year even if it’s a dry region. Also, the trunks, roots and stem of the forest trees and plants are hollow from inside without any specific reason.

Some stories say that these trees are known to be a representation of the ‘gopis’. They also symbolise love for the almighty Lord Krishna. According to several locals, it is also believed that once the sun goes down, Lord Krishna enters the premises of this temple to spend some time and indulge in the rasleela with his gopis. Many reports also said that people heard the ghungroo’s sounds during the night as well. All of these stories have initiated the interest and curiosity of people that have ultimately increased the popularity of Nidhi Van Temple in Vrindavan.

Brahma Temple, Pushkar

During that time, the Brahma Temple is considered to be the sole temple that had the ability to survive. One of the strange facts about this temple is that it is the sole Brahma temple prevalent in the world. The inner structure of the temple is embedded with silver coins that carry the names of the donors and devotees.

SII chief Adar Poonawala states that India shall face a shortage of COVID-19 vaccines, till July

news24

Poonawala

Introduction:

The rising COVID cases and casualties are a cause of worry for all of us. Vaccines like Covaxin and Covishield have come as potential tools in our fight against COVID-19. But the problem is that the supply is not unlimited. In this second wave of COVID-19 government has allowed 18+ citizens to take vaccine doses. This has further put a burden on existing doses. A recent statement by Adar Poonawala has shown the criticality of the situation. He pointed towards the shortage of vaccine doses. Let’s look at his statement and what its implications are.

Statement by Adar Poonawala

Adar Poonawala is the chief of SII (Serum Institute of India), which is manufacturing Covishield vaccine doses for the country with the help of AstraZeneca and Oxford University. But he has recently stated that vaccine shortage is likely in India. He further said that the production of vaccine doses can be ramped up only after July. The estimates show that the capacity of production will rise from 70 million to 100 million in July.

Mr. Poonawalla also stated that it was not expected that the fury of the second wave would rise so much. He further brought attention to the fact that the authorities had not directed the Institute to make more than one billion doses in a year. Therefore it is unlikely that they will be able to increase vaccine dose production before July.

Implications of the statement:

  • India is already grappled with the worst COVID scenario and in such times if vaccine doses fall short, the impact could be deadly.
  • From May 1, all 18+ have been allowed to take vaccine doses but since the vaccine supply is limited there are chances that many will remain unvaccinated.

The Current COVID situation in India:

India holds the second position in terms of the number of COVID cases and deaths. The infections are constantly rising. Almost 3 lakh 68 thousand new cases have been reported in a single day. The country’s total COVID cases have reached an all-time high tally of 1.99 crores out of which 34.13 lakh are active cases. The death count is also grave because a total of 2.18 lakh people have lost their life.

Many have lost their loved ones and many are in constant fear to lose their loved ones. The situation is very critical and many states have also imposed mini lockdowns.

Way ahead:

The statement by Adar Poonawalla clearly shows that the number of COVID cases has overpowered the doses. Since the vaccine doses are less and there are chances of getting infected even after vaccination, prevention is a must. Following COVID protocols, wearing masks, using sanitizers, and maintaining social distance is the need of the hour.
